I have spent today in the Boone/BR/Banner Elk area and it has inspired me to start writing this blog that I had planned to start when I put up this site. I had a wonderful afternoon visiting and reminiscing with Patti and her boys. We hung out at the Banner Elk park- what a cool place. On the way to Banner Elk, Grandfather was so clear and I started thinking about my first summer at camp. In 1975 I joined another group of campers for a hiking trip to Grandfather. We climbed over that entire mountain- ladders and all. I decided that I would like to try and do it again. I don't think I will be as agile as I was at age 10.  Patti and I talked about swimming laps and swamping canoes in the lake that we all thought was so big. I remember practicing swimming those laps in the weeks leading up to camp. I was so intent on going to Lake Watagua and learning how to ski.  Oh how the memories come flooding back. What are your favorite memories?
